A roommate expense tracker for rent and shared bills.
Rent, Wi-Fi and groceries rarely split evenly or get paid by one person. Split keeps one balance for the whole flat.
A worked example
Asha has the bigger room, so she pays half the rent. Wi-Fi and groceries are shared equally.
| Expense | Paid by | Amount | Split |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rent | Asha | ₹30,000 | Asha ₹15,000, Ravi ₹7,500, Meet ₹7,500 |
| Wi-Fi | Ravi | ₹1,200 | ₹400 each |
| Groceries | Meet | ₹3,000 | ₹1,000 each |
Asha is owed ₹13,600, Ravi owes ₹7,700 and Meet owes ₹5,900. Ravi pays Asha ₹7,700, and Meet pays Asha ₹5,900.
Set up your flat
- Create one group for the flat and add everyone.
- Add each bill when it is paid. Use exact amounts for rent if rooms differ.
- Check the balance whenever someone asks who owes what.
- Record settlements when people pay each other back.
What happens when a roommate moves out?
Settle their balance first. The group owner can then remove them. Their past expenses stay in the history, and they can be restored later.
Can we keep using the same group for months?
Yes. A permanent account keeps your group history. Temporary accounts expire after 30 days without involvement in a new or edited expense.
Does it add rent automatically each month?
No. Add each bill yourself when it is paid.
